Jeffy, the Creek Chubsucker, was nestling in some Fontinalis moss. He decided to build his new home there. The little creek Chubsucker went to get his things from his old home, under a rock, to move it to his new home. Swimming as swiftly as he could, he made it safely to and from his old rock to his new house in the Fontinalis moss. Being one of the most hunted fish by birds, he had to move very fast. On his last trip from his old rock, danger struck. Ringo, the Great White Egret attacked Jeffy, brushing his little Melania (a small animal that looks like a snail, but actually sits on a fish cleaning it off) off him. Jeffy dropped all his luggage, and scooped up his Melania and sprinted swimming style to his Fontinalis moss, dodging Ringo’s deadly jabs. He softly made it to his rock and started to doctor the Melania.After he was done, he stuck his Melania back on himself. Just as Jeffy was settled into his new home, Ringo struck again Just missing Jeffy’s new home, Jeffy went deep down into the dark grass, to protect himself. Jeffy, after waiting a little while, decided to peer out, to see if Ringo was there. When he did, he saw Ringo gliding over the water. Jeffy swam down farther and farther into the dark water. Then, out of nowhere, Jeffy came out of the dark. He thought he was safe until Ringo caught him by the fin. Jeffy, fighting as hard as he could, finally came loose from Ringo’s deadly grip and fell back into the water.The second he felt the water, he rushed to the nearest rock to hide under. Ringo didn’t give up. He struck again against the rock, hitting his beak on the rock. Squawking in pain, he flew away. Ringo never bothered Jeffy again. To bad Ringo was bothered by the river water he swallowed while trying to kill Jeffy. All that river water caused a parasite, called Haemopis sanguisuga, to get inside his body. Ringo got very sick, close to dying, but pulled through. Now he lives in a zoo cage, where he is taken care of, and Jeffy swims freely.
