Tundra Fiction

One cold, dark morning in the tundra, Larry the Wolf was slowly stalking a ptarmigan. The ptarmigan was hiding in the thick bushes quietly. Larry tried to pounce on the prey but just missed. The ptarmigan flew close to the ground as Larry chased after him. Larry leaped in the air and grabbed the ptarmigan in his mouth. Larry devoured the ptarmigan and enjoyed the tasty meal.

The next morning a type of parasite called Toxascaris leonina entered the body of Larry the Wolf. Larry was struggling to survive with the parasite inside him. The parasite was slowly eating away at Larry for two years until one day it just left.

Larry was tired and needed a place to sleep that night. He found a nice cozy burrow left behind by an arctic fox. Larry loved his new home and dozed off. He dreamt of how much cooler his life would be if he were a bumblebee, but he didn’t know what would happen next.

When Larry woke up the next morning he felt very strange. He had the desire to fly and felt very small. He soon realized he was a bumblebee. He was very confused and didn’t know what to do, and he was very hungry. He observed what other bumblebees were eating. It looked like they were pollinating flowers, so Larry did the same. He enjoyed the sweet taste and pollinated fifty flowers. Larry went to sleep living the great life of a bumblebee.
